The Scott Scale 940 is a fast and lightweight hardtail cross country bike with race ready performance at the lowest price in the Scale carbon frame line. The frame of the Scale 940 is made an ultra-lightweight carbon that comes in at a lower price than the carbon used on the more expensive models. Carbon material is a great start, but the way the frame is constructed is just as important. Scott used FEA Finite Element Analysis software to map out the carbon layup, leading to the most efficient use of materials. Scott tested this frame in real world conditions to simulate how the Scale would perform in various potential elements, adjusting the build accordingly. Through this process, Scott was able to optimize the surface area of the bike and create a superlight frame with great stiffness, comfort, and impact resistance.
The front of the Scale 940 features a RockShox Judy suspension fork. This provides 100mm of travel which gives riders some extra leeway on tough terrain without overdoing it. A three-position remote lockout lever on the fork gives riders the option to turn off the suspension if need be. This version of the Scale is equipped with a SRAM Eagle 12-speed groupset for smooth shifting at a reasonable price. The new 2021 version includes an Eagle NX rear derailleur in addition to the typical Eagle SX drivetrain. 29-inch wheels along with 2.25-inch Schwalbe Rapid Rob tires are utilized for faster acceleration and ease of navigation of technical terrain.
